OLD BUSINESS:
WEBSITE – George is still working to release the site.
Mira Mar – He who shall remain unnamed totaled another buoy. Jay worked his magic, and the buoys are all set FOR NOW.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT – 3 new members signed up for a total of 89 members.
There were no reports from course maintenance, publicity, safety or the webmaster.
On the sick list, Larry Minton and George Meidhof, are both down for awhile so if you are of a mind give them a call and say hello.
NEW BUSINESS:
We still will need a web master to take George’s place but for now the web site seems to be working well. George is diligently working to get the site out of his name. Probability is that VP Lynn will take over the site as she is doing most of the work now, as no one else has volunteered to help.
The buoys at Everglades Lake have been moved for us by Jay and we now have a setup that we can live with. Jack suggested with the new setup that some of the members who have not tried running down there should take a chance and try it.
Last month’s meeting was at Everglades and went well but attendance was not what we had hoped for. Our next meeting on Wednesday, August 9th, will be at Everglades.
As mentioned last month, we need someone to volunteer to organize our quarterly night out with our wives and or family. This is not a difficult job and you really only have to do a little work 4 times a year. How about it? Can we get someone to stand up and take care of this job?
On August 1st there will be NO boating on Lake Mira Mar as the Villages has something scheduled.
Discussion on closing down activity at MM for the month of August. Jack said Tuesdays he would take care of rescue duty but if no one volunteers for Thursdays, boaters will be on their own. After the discussion was completed, the vote was unanimous to maintain normal activity at MM yet there were NO volunteers for rescue duty.
After much discussion regarding the replacement of using Mail Chimp as our method of sending information to club members, a suggestion was made by Bob Bailey that we replace it with a Gmail program. It was decided after much discussion to remain with Mail Chimp for the time being. VP Lynn will also handle this site.
Racing Trophies were handed out for the first six-month period of 2023 as follows:
P-limited mono – Bob Bailey;
P limited cat – Steve Marquart;
“P” and “Q” – Mike Pepe;
UL19 – Steve Marquart;
Hydro – Bob Bailey;
P Limited Outrigger – Bob Bailey;
Impulse and Sonicwake – Dana Skaggs;
Unlimited – Mike Pepe; and the Mister Excitement award goes to Ron Clark. Congratulations to the winners.
Motion to end the meeting was made and seconded at 9:50 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted – MIKE PEPE

$2,335.80 Total
Report from web master was the only report at this meeting. See notes under New Business.
OLD BUSINESS
George will be leaving his position as web master. The website will be in the club’s name. We will have only 2 people with access and that will be Lynn and Rick.
We had our night out at Mezza Luna Restaurant. 24 of our members attended of 27 members that signed up. All went well with good food and good company. Jack posed a question which was do you all want to keep this night out going? If so, I need someone to take over setting it up once every 3 months. It is not difficult to do. There were no volunteers.
Bob Parenteau is doing well. He showed up at Lake Mira Mar. Larry Minton is still having some problems but we hope he will be back with us soon.
Jack requests that those who have trophies be returned to him as our six month race period is almost over and perhaps the trophies will need to be awarded to the new winners. Besides Jack will probably dust them.
NEW BUSINESS: Per George, our website has been hacked again. We need an improved security program. He says that he has found one that should do the job for $8 monthly. We now pay $118 annually for the hosting site and $24 for a security program which does help but the additional $8 monthly program is badly needed and should do the job.
Concern about costs caused comments to be made that we should raise our membership fee from $10 to $15 a year (by Dan Saunders). After discussion motion was made and seconded. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Another motion was made to continue or not with the website. Approval was unanimous for it to continue. Jack asked George if he wished to continue to work on the website. George said he would do the technical end if Lynn and Rick would do content. Jack’s next question was do you want to get the site out of your name. George stated it’s only an issue if he dies. Mike Pepe asked George if he would send the pin to someone. He said he would send it to Lynn and Mike and that he changes it every month.
Per President Jack, Bob Bailey wants out of NAMBA meetings which are by phone or computer. No one volunteered for the job. A vote was taken and passed for our club not to be present at these meetings.
Per President Jack, Jay has replaced one missing buoy at Mira Mar and straightened out the course; it looks good. Here at Everglades, the situation regarding the 3 PVC pipe buoys installed by the sailboat club has not as of yet been settled.
Tuesday, June 20th, Camp Villages has reserved Lake Mira Mar and we will have no boating. Our next meeting will be at Lake Mira Mar on July 13th at 9:00 A.M. Boats may be run before and after the meeting.
Also, next month is when we hand out trophies for the six-month period January thru June of this year for the highest scoring race drivers. Per President Jack, we need launch and rescue service at Lake Mira Mar for the month of July. Again, there were no volunteers at this time.
Motion to end the meeting was made and seconded at 9:25 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted – MIKE PEPE
